DeAris Hoard, Ph.D.
DeAris Hoard, Ph.D. earned his master’s degree in criminal justice from Xavier University (Cincinnati) and his Ph.D. from Walden University. He is currently employed by the Louisville Metro Police Department. Dr. Hoard’s research interests include: topics associated with the interactions between law enforcement and the communities they serve; the legitimacy and effectiveness of law enforcement practices; and the associations between marginalized groups and the criminal justice system. Furthermore, his specific interests include the use of wearable video systems in law enforcement and police misconduct.
Dr. Hoard is a member of the National Association of Blacks in Criminal Justice, the Southern Criminal Justice Association, the American Criminal Justice Association, and the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences. He additionally serves on the board of directors for Free2Hope, Inc., a sex trafficking and human rights organization.
