About the All of Us Research Program

The program is seeking one million or more people from across the U.S. By doing so, it hopes to one day help speed up medical research. People who join will share information about their health, habits, and what it’s like where they live. By looking for patterns, researchers may learn more about what affects people’s health. The National Institute of Health’s All of Us Research Program is building a database to help transform the future of health research by equipping researchers nationwide with expansive health data from diverse populations, especially those underrepresented in biomedical research. A core part of the All of Us Research Program’s mission is to catalyze an ecosystem of diverse researchers by encouraging them to use the All of Us data in their research.

All of Us employs a “data passport” model for the registered tier to grant researchers broad permission to explore the data for a wide range of studies. Access is available to researchers whose institutions have signed a data use agreement. In the future, the program will open the platform more broadly.
